Is there a plan for providing a separate email field for order confirmations?
The current default in the email queue is the invoice email field. If our order confirmations need to go to the purchaser not the ap department and we change it for the order confirmations to go to we have to change it back to send the invoices by email. Two different departments are involved here and we have many conflicts over this issue. It's a maintenance nightmare. We have reverted to having the order confirmation folks edit the email queue and not the field on the order.
A separate email field for OC's would solve the problem.

You can send the order to the Email Queue and change the email address there. It doesn't require to change the customer records.

Another solution could be using PrintBoss. PrintBoss is a third party product that could allow you to put the Order Confirmation email address in an optional field or any other field and email directly from PrintBoss instead of Adagio.

I can't tell you how many of my clients have requested this.

For now, what I tell them is to enter the Confirm email in the Shipto email field when entering the order, and then use that field when emailing the Confirm (you can choose from Customer, Billto or Shipto). If the customer doesn't have an alternate ship-to address, you could create a default one in the customer master under the Contacts/Shipto tab (the default is probably leaving the Shipto code blank) and it will appear automatically on new orders.

Providing a separate email field for order confirmations would be a very welcome improvement to the program.

Hi,
We have resolved by creating duplicate ship to's for shipment addresses that are the same as the bill to address but are ordered by different departments. In some of our client sites there could be as many as 15 purchasing departments, that require separate contact details.

This is similar to Steve's suggestion, but means that you do not have to keep rekeying the email address for different purchasing departments. Having a separate email address for order confirmations is necessary, but also the contact details provided on the duplicate ship to's are also necessary.

So there already is a solution in place, if you use Ship to addresses in AR with your OE.
