Dear Forum,

I have a quick question, what is the best way to pull a report based on an ad hoc list of items. Report built to pull transactions history by date working well, client wants to zoom in on specific items (ad hoc) list (big ticket items).

Thus my question, can get it to range but now needs to hard code this list;
CE-CAR-0007
CE-CAR-0008
CE-CAR-0009
CE-GRV-0010
CE-GRV-0011
CE-GRV-0012
PY-FPD-5801
PY-FPO-5801
ST-CRR-0375
ST-CRR-0501
ST-CRR-0625
ST-CRR-0750
ST-CRR-1000
ST-CRW-0375
ST-CRW-0500
ST-CRW-0625
ST-CRW-0750
ST-CRW-1000
ST-HFT-0375
ST-HFT-0500
ST-HFT-0625
ST-HFT-0750
ST-HFT-1000

Any ideas welcomed.

Ed

Hi Edward

Rather than building the list into the report, I would use a field such as the Report Group field to indicate which items are big ticket items (enter "BIG" in the field), and then filter on the Report Group field. I suggest that field because it is one of the few text fields on the Item Master screen, and it can be validated.

If that field is already being used, you might want to use an Optional field.

The advantage of doing this is obvious if you have to use the list in more than one report. And it is a lot easier to maintain.

Thanks Steve,

This did not work report group already used, there are no "Optional Field" in ITEM HISTORY Table that I can use. Remember I am pulling data from Transaction History not Inventory Master.

But I fully understand the intent.

Is there a function in Grid View which I can input these items codes and have the system filter only on same.

Hi Ed

It doesn't matter that you are pulling from ICHIST, you can still filter on a field from the IC Master file. You can link two tables together on one view if they have a field in common (in this case item number).

There is a function in GridView that can read an Excel file, that would be preferable to inputting item codes directly into a GridView view.

Thanks a million I found it (ALT F8)...

What happen is that this linked field appears under Calculated Columns.

I was focusing on the Definitions Listing.

Running it now to check.
