A simple question I'm sure -
We are simplifying our Chart of Accounts by having a template Dept with all Accounts, then when we create a new Dept we will just copy the template dept. When we print the Chart of Accounts for that Dept the Dept name doesn't show. Is there a way to print the Dept name with the Chart of Accounts? I know we can print the Chart of Accounts for the template dept, and then the listing of Depts, but there will be some Accounts specific to a dept so we'd like to be able to have the Dept name show on that print out too.
Thank you.

Hi EMB

While it is true that the Chart of Accounts does not show the department name, the Trial Balance does, if you make the primary sort by Department. For most users, the Trial Balance has everything that the Chart of Accounts has - just make sure to Include Accounts with no Activity. You would then just ignore the figures.

That being said, it wouldn't be a bad idea to include the department name on the Chart of Accounts when the primary sort is by department.

I printed the Trial Balance sorting first by Departments under the print options, but I don't see the Dept name anywhere. Not sure what I'm missing.

Make sure to check off the option "Page break on change of department". Then it will appear at the bottom.

You could export the chart of accounts, add the correct department name and import the department name into the second description field for the account. Then print the 2nd description on the reports.

Andrew - that works for the moment but is unwieldy if you add new departments or new accounts.

New accounts aren't too bad. New departments require a bit more work. Also, you might want the second description for some other purpose.

Perhaps someone will suggest some alternative solution at the AOC or during the next Adagio Wish cycle.

The option I see is page break on change of account, not department.

Change the sort field so that department is the first one listed, that will change the page break field.
