I am obviously missing something. Is there a way to repeat column headings for financials that overflow to multiple pages.

Background. We created our account groups in Adagio. Used those as the basis for both our balance sheet and P & L. Both Balance Sheet and P & L when collapsed (re smart sheet) all is good. When the specs are expanded we have an issue with the solumn headings repeating on each page. There is not issue with the Company Name and date etc repeating on each page. But, using the balance sheet for example, the word "Asset" I want to appear on page two since we expand the smartsheet it doesn't repeat.

I assume this can be done?

Thanks in advance for any information.

Yes. Freeze the rows that you want to repeat (from row 1, you can't do this for a group of rows not immediately at the top such as rows 5 to 10). When printing or previewing, all frozen rows will repeat at the top of every page.

What a coincidence!
I asked this same question directly to Tech Support earlier today, and here was the reply:
Highlight those rows and freeze them. Format | Rows | Freeze.
In the Help, you’ll find it under the Format menu and in Freezing & Hiding topics.

Good luck!

Thanks for the post guys but the freeze won't work. I take that back it will work but only (as I can see) for the Company name, name of spec and date. Yes I can highlight those rows and have them repeat on each page no problem.

My issue is when I expand the smart sheet the "Assets" section flows over to page two. The word "Assets" prints without any issue obviously on page 1. The problem is on page two the word "Assets" doesn't show up. This is what I need.

So if I freeze the row where "Assets" is on yes it will repeat on each page but obvioulsy that is no good. The word "Assets" would appear on each page even if the page contained "Liabilities" accounts for example.

That's my issue.

Sorry for rambling and hope this makes sense.

Again much appreciated for the postings.

Separate the Assets and Liability sections out into different statements?

So, summary balance sheet fits on a page and attach a schedule for the Asset accounts and another Schedule for the Liability accounts.

Print all three statements in a single Statement Group.

Thanks Andrew. Will go that route to get around the issue.

Thanks for your input. Much appreciated.

Hi John,

Since the underlying technology of the financial reporter is a spreadsheet, there can only be a single set of headings on a single sheet.

Can you think of an alternative method?
