I have a client who has Adagio with Office 2013. When we got to Ledger and export the accounts, it shows that the file has been created with 511 entries, it gives us the path of the file. When we go look for the file, it is not there. We have tried different locations, having our IT person look for any error messages on the server etc... but we can't figure out why the file is missing. We have tried doing so from another workstation with Excel 2010 and it works. We have also tried to create the file is ASCII format (to bypass MS excel) but it still does not show. Any suggestions??

It is common for the export files to get "lost" when directed to the default folder, which is the data folder that already contains, perhaps, hundreds of files.

I usually direct the export file to the desktop which gives me a reasonable chance of finding it. smile

If it is in the data folder, you could -- right after exporting -- try sorting those files by date. The export should, of course, be one of the most recent.

Take the path from the Export Template you used and paste it into Windows Explorer. Also, check the extension - .XLS or .XLSX?

We were trying to put it on the desktop, which is pretty empty. The extension was .xls Is that the problem? We did paste the path to explorer. I even did it with the IT person and he could not find it.

I went to check this on m Windows 8 machine but found that Office 2010 had been installed (presumably to save my sanity). Ledger is working fine with that combination.

Perhaps there is an issue with office 2013? Does ExcelDirect work properly from the Grids on this machine?

Hi Andrew,

Worked fine on my Windows 8 with Excel 2013 with one caveat: If Excel was open I got an error message that it couldn't export. With Excel closed, no problems. Did have a problem 'seeing' the file to open it but I'm blind normally. Pasting the path into Excel worked fine.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the update.

I've seen the ExcelDirect fail when Excel was actually asking a question (like what file do you want to Open), but not if Excel was just sitting at an empty sheet.

That shouldn't fail.
