Hi Michael

I think you have nailed the cause of the problem. I was using a one-view workspace for testing. My real workspace has two views and the settings already match your explanation.

So I don't think I will need to send you anything.

Thanks

Steve

Hi Michael

Nope, even with multi-view workspace it uses whatever the default filter is instead of the one specified. I think it's because the wrong view is in focus

I will upload the data, and email you my batch file.

Regards

Steve

As to:

"Not as critical, but they have two sister companies, with shared salespeople. It would be ideal if each salesperson's report contained two customer lists - one for each company. In Excel this would mean two separate sheets."

This can be accomplished by using the "Tied to this database" option on the Edit Definition tab.

The Workspace would have 2 identical Views ( different names ), with each pointing at the appropriate database.

Hi Steve,

I've had success using the /XDF switch with GridView parameters using this syntax, as outlined in the the AOC reporting document from 2009 (page 102):

/XDF"*:{Filter name}" to use the filter name from all views in the workspace if available
/XDF"{View name}:{Filter name}" to use the filter for a specific view
multiple XDF switches are permitted to pick a specific filter for each view if desired.

/XDF"*:Sort by customer"
/XDF"OE-Orders:Outstanding items"

The view extension .gv is not needed. I think the documentation has a : after each of the /XDV or /XDW or /XDF examples and that may not be required.

Michael showed me my syntax problem and it works fine now.

Thanks
