Client restored GL from a nightly back up from a Win2008 sever, on to the network drive and tried accessing the data from a Win XP with service pack 3 workstation, got an error message about the Ledger was incompatible. (See attached)

Can anyone tell me what could be causing this to happen as the back up is an exact replica of the database.

I've only ever seen that error when clicking on a Ledger 8.1 icon in error and trying to open a Ledger 9.0X dataset. Make certain it's the correct Ledger 9 icon.

Bruce is right. They've launched Ledger V8.1x against the 9.0x data. Check the properties on the shortcut. It should be pointing at Ledger.EXE, not ALWIN.EXE.

Its strange because once I was able revert to the original back up that had and issue and corrected the issue via DIC, it opened up fine.

If I use the files from the aforementioned server it comes up with the error and its the same icon.

I will check all you have mentioned and see what happens.

You need to check the properties of the Icon and see what it's "pointing" at.
