Hello Support:
What are the current recommendations for installing onto a Citrix server? For the purpose of this discussion, let's consider Citrix and Terminal Services/Remote Desktop Services to have similar requirements.

My main question pertains to the initial installation. Should we install from a separate workstation computer to the Citrix server? Or can we now safely log into the Citrix server and do the installation directly as a user with sufficient permissions?

Thank you.

With Server 2008 R2 or Server 2012 running SMB 2, you can install from a session on the Server.

We have never installed Adagio on a Citrix server.

I recently installed Adagio on a Citrix Server running Windows Server 2003 as a remote session. I worked fine using the Change user mode and Administrator user.

We tried installing on Citrix (directly on the 2003 server, as admin) but the users were not able to run through Citrix unless they had full read/write capabilities to all the directories, which they don't want to do for security reasons. They want to keep the data in a separate folder, which would obviously have r/w capabilities to users, but it seemed to need access to some system files.

Which config (or other system) files do they need to have access to? We tried giving r/w capabilities to all the .ini files, but that didn't do the trick. Any ideas?

After giving r/w capabilities to the ini files, it let the user log in but then gave a file handle error- I think it was error 2708 if I remember correctly.

I will try giving them rights to the above directories.

Thanks!

2708 means the system was unable to OPEN or CREATE EZSSILCK.LD4 in the TASK= folder referred to in ADSPROF.xxx in the Data Folder.

All Adagio user must be able Read, Write, Create and Delete files and folders in the above mentioned directories and sub directories.
