We have a construction company that we are setting up on Adagio. They use 33 divisions starting at 00, with a two character group code and then a 2 character detail code. How would you we set up the GL using these codes? For example Division 00, Group 01, detail 32.

If we set up an account with number 000132 Adagio will truncate the leading zeros. We would like to be able to emulate their existing structure and are looking for ideas on how to do this in a way that will keep the data entry easy. We are reluctant to use any characters that are not on the numeric keypad.

If the restriction is that only digits/numeric keypad characters are allowed, and putting a zero at the beginning of the department code gets trimmed off, this makes options limited, especially since you need all 6 characters of the department code for your group (ie cannot put a leading + or other character into the department).

Can you put the Detail part first?

How about starting at "10" rather than "00"?

That is the only idea we came up with - bumping all the divisions up by 10. 00 would become 10, 10 would become 20 and 30 would become 40. Adagio will not allow an account code to keep a leading zero, correct?

Correct, and very unlikely to change.

Correct, leading zeros are automaticall stripped from ALL "keys" in Adagio.

If they want comparatives Financial Statements bewteen divisions it would be better if the "division" became the department.

We will be setting up the projects as departments. Divisions in their case are broad categories like Foundation, Design, Landscaping, Mobilization, etc.
