I'm trying to set up financial statements in Adagio for the first time. I'm doing a comparative balance sheet statement for Aug 2012 and Aug 2011, so 1 period previous and 13 periods previous.

I'm getting #LinkBad# for my Aug 2011, Bal_[13]M, Assets section and error in my Liabilities section. My Aug 2012 numbers are fine. If I change Bal_[13]M to Bal_[12]M I get Sept 2011 numbers with no errors.

Not sure what the problem is.

Hello Ryan,

If you want the figure from one year back, it's easier to add the "year specifier" to the specification code you are using.

So, if a column contains "BAL" for the current balance, then "{1}BAL" will be the balance in the previous year, "{2}BAL" will be the balance in the year before that, etc. This is true for any specification code and makes generating year-over-year comparative statements easy.

For Budgets, it is also useful to be able to specify "{-1B}" to get the figure for Next Year's budget.

Sorry for posting to the wrong forum. Thanks for the reply. I tried what you suggested and it's not giving my the correct numbers. I need the numbers for 1 year and 1 period back, your way gives me the numbers for last year. We are in period 9, but I need period 8 numbers from a year ago.
