\Program Files\Seagate Software\Crystal Reports is the default directory for installation. However, when you install Crystal 8.5, you can set the Destination folder.

Having them both should not be a problem. I do not know that you can have both Designers open at the same time. Crystal Decisions should be able to answer this question.
