Did you preview the report, or print it to a printer/file/PDF? Preview will not give an option to purge, as Andew indicated.
When you first open the Batch Status Report screen, what do you see for a range of batches? Or do you see a range of 0 to 0 and a message that there are no batches? An empty file will show a Current Year batch range of 0 to 0.
Try running a data integrity check. Some older versions of Ledger had a conversion issue where Error batches had a status assigned to them that could not be cleared from the report. DIC will fix this.
