Hello Support:
My client has 10 monthly batches with about 75 invoices each. They like to Preview each batch before printing.

If they choose "Use selected specification", Previewing works perfectly and they can see all 75 invoices in one preview.

But if they choose "Use current customer specification", they see 75 separate "previews" that load up one-at-a-time. I expect this is because of the possibility that each 75 Customers could have a distinct invoice spec file. Is this the way that it is or is there something we could do differently?

AdagioPDF creates 75 separate PDF files so that doesn't help, though I suspect a different PDF driver could create a single file.

Hi Bruce,

Because every customer can have a different specification, making this selection results in a separate print job for each invoice. When there is a single specification chosen, a single print job can be run.

Sorry, it's a Windows' thing and that's the way it works.

Andrew:
We'll use a PDF driver that offers an option to view the PDF file after creation. One that does this is called "Bullzip" (don't blame me for the name!) but I'm sure there are others. Thank you.

AdagioPDF has this option.

It does, though that isn't useful in this situation because AdagioPDF would create 75 individual PDF files resulting in 75 individual Previews.

I think you will find that with every PDF printer since they are all separate print jobs.

You're right! The "Use current Customer specification" option always produces separate PDF files regardless of the PDF driver used. So it looks as if previewing using the "Customer specification" option is practical only for smaller numbers of invoices.

Hi Bruce,

If they are comfortable with the specs they have on file, why not just print a batch listing to verify the numbers?

Or use ePrint to step through the PDFs quickly?

Andrew:
They have 8 child-care sites and the managers review the invoices each month. Once they are approved and/or corrected, the invoices are printed and mailed. Under their previous software they would send a stack of paper to each site; now they send a PDF file and it works well.

This isn't a problem. They can send a PDF file using the standard spec and then use the "Customer specification" when printing the final invoices.
