Dear Margo

This error has been reported before and was resolved after much troubleshooting, but the cause was discovered to be an Adagio program file that was flagged as Read-only.

The file in question is EZSSILCK.LD4. This file is where the ADS (Adagio Data Source) file writes the resource locks to disk, and obviously must be read-write. If ADS can't write to this file for any reason this error will occur. It may also occur if the O/S is holding this file for some reason.

The EZSSILCK.LD4 file is located in the same directory as EZTASKS. At a site using ACCPAC Plus with Adagio, this will most likely be in \ASP. If this is an Adagio-only dataset, then you should find this file in the \softrak\system folder on the drive where Adagio was installed.

RESOLUTION
With all Users out of Adagio, change the attribute of the file EZSSILCK.LD4 to be ?archive? - not Read Only! If there are still problems, the file can be deleted if all users are out of Adagio. It will be recreated.

Hope this helps!

Hello again, Margo

YES YES YES None of the files associated with running Adagio should have a Read Only attribute, this includes your data files!

In a nutshell, the Softrak folder, it's sub-directories and all the files within should (if anything) only have an Archive attribute. As well, this would include the following folders and all their contents:
- QRASP (usually found on the same drive as the ASP folder).
- Crystal (found under the Windows directory).

Since you are using Adagio with ACCPAC, then the other files Adagio uses in the ASP folder, the currency files (mc*.*) should also be checked.

To find out all the folders and program files involved, you can open the install.log and/or install.txt files (they are text files) to see what files are installed by Adagio. Check them to ensure that none are Read Only.

On another note, since you are running W2000 - Adagio must be installed while logged on as the actual User of the station, and this User must have full administrator rights during any type of Adagio install.

Hope this helps!

Hello Margo Reeve,

Just a short note to explain this "read only" attribute. My guess is that you copied the files from a CD you had created. Since CD's can only be written to once, files from there are marked "read only", and Windows maintains this attribute when you copy them back onto your hard disk. This is a very common "gotcha" for everybody. After copying files off a CD, you almost always need to change the file attributes.
