Is it supposed to or do we have to open each one and modify the version number manually ?
We have hundreds of reports...any ideas?

Best regards.

Hi Isabel

QR will automatically convert most older reports based on ACCPAC Plus core modules, however, this also depends on how old the version of both QR and the source application(s) used to create the original reports.

Chapter 11 in the QR manual goes over this thoroughly, basically, this is what it says:

As a rule, all ACCPAC Plus core module reports that were created with an older version of QR and that module are fine after the upgrade, as long as you take some time to prepare for the upgrade/conversion process. Here are some tips:

1) Prior to the upgrade(s), ensure that you go into QR and tag the ?link list? option in the Print/Export menu option, then print a small sample report for each report that the user wishes to keep using.
2) Then print a report definition for these same reports.
3) Familiarize yourself and/or the client with the conversion process and/or cross table conversion procedures described in Chapter 11 of the QR manual. The section entitled ?Cross-table conversions? gives a list of all applications that QR can automatically convert. HINT: Anything NOT listed here will need to use the cross-table conversion methods that follow that information.
4) If you have upgraded only QR, then it is much easier, as your reports will print without conversion in most cases. However, the report structure has changed to allow new parameters to be set by the report. To convert the reports to the new QR format, just Open the report, then Save it.
5) If you have upgraded any ACCPAC modules or 3rd party applications at the same time, you must also convert the report to the new version of those modules as well as to the new version of QR. So the procedure would be more lengthy: (This is straight from the manual ? Chapter 11.)
a) For each report that you wish to convert, go into Options | Install Data & make sure that the older version table (the one the report was originally created with) is tagged still (if it isn?t ? then tag it now), then Open the report & Save it (In QR Designer)
b) Select Options | Configuration and change Convert Reports to Y(es)
c) Select Install Data from the Options menu
d) Tag the versions (of the ACCPAC or 3rd Party modules) that you now want to use in your reports, and tag the old versions (to de-select them).
e) Press
f) Now, Open each report that uses any of the ACCPAC or 3rd Party apps that you have just upgraded. When a message asking you to convert between versions is displayed, select Yes. Then, Save your report.
g) Check the links in your reports by selecting Edit | Links. Make sure the Driver, Files and Fields settings are correct. (Compare them to the print outs you did earlier in preparation).
h) Print out your converted reports to check them. If there is a problem with any field, move the cursor to that field. If ?EMPTY FIELD? appears in the status bar, replace the field with the correct field from the database. This is a field that could not be converted.
i) Select Options | Configuration and change Convert Reports to N(o) again.

REPORTS CREATED WITH QR V6.0D OR EARLIER:
If your report was created with QR V6.0D or earlier, DO NOT try to convert to a different table until you have converted the report to the current (new version) QR format. To convert the report to the current QR format, simply open & save the report(s) once after installing QR upgrade.

REPORTS THAT CANNOT BE CONVERTED:

 QR reports created with QR60A or earlier
 Reports created using any version 5.x program (application/3rd party) tables
 Reports created using US Payroll versions prior to 6.1C/D (see PRINFO.DOC in the QRASP directory)
 Reports created using Softrak?s Sales Analysis 6.0 or earlier (tables listed as SS600)
 Reports created using ApparelPak
 There may be others that we are not aware of (3rd Party)

You will need to create your reports from scratch, using the report definitions and sample reports with links that you printed prior to installing the latest QR upgrade.

I hope this helps to clarify this for you.

Robin LePas
