Hi All

Just a question, has anyone had any issues dealing with rows made hidden not flowing through the entire report?

I have a client, they have hidden some rows and expected the format to flow throughout the other months however when the next month was chosen the rows became unhidden, and when reverted back to previous month the said rows were indeed not hidden anymore.

Can't the rows stay hidden from month to month and why does the row suddenly become unhidden. The report was saved after the rows were hidden but that didn't make a difference. The client wishes to have the report expanded then hide some of the generated fields that are showing zero. The supress zero option doesn't seem to be working.

Let me know, as the clients are annoyed at having to continuously month by month hide the same rows.

Hi PwC,

Maybe they are hiding rows that have been generated when the sheet is in Expanded format. If the sheet is then collapsed and then re-expanded, the re-generated (previously hidden) rows will loose any formatting that was applied directly to them when in expanded mode. Instead they will inherit the formatting characteristics of the row that they were generated from.

As a general rule you should never apply formatting to generated rows in an expanded sheet. Formatting should be done when the sheet is in collapsed mode. In fact, I believe that the system now prevents some type of editing/formatting operations to expanded sheets.

It sounds to me like you'll have to do some tweaking of the sheet for them to get what they want.

Best wishes, Pete

If you want to format a "Generated Row", then use the ".Rowformat" command in the last column. "FormatHidden" is a format that can be applied.

However, I wouldn't recommend doing this if they are just trying to suppress 0.00 rows. I haven't seen a case of that option not working in a couple of years, and even then it always worked on the printed version of the statement, even if the row was not getting hidden on during the display of the statement.

The current version of the financial reporter does not let you edit generated rows any longer, to avoid this type of issue.

If you have an example of a financial statement where the 0.00 row suppression is not working properly, then please feel free to send me the g/l data. I'll need more than just the statement itself, the whole ledger dataset will need to be sent.

Hi Andrew,
Just noticed something on the forum concerning it and I will check out what I read and see if it works, and your're right it was a while back.
