Dear Set Lan

- Can you create a new view on the Win95 station? (This would determine if it is functional in this area at all.)
- Also - does this station have any restrictions as to access to specific data on the network, if this is where the data is?
- Did you install the full version of GridView on this station - or did you do the ALLWKST.exe?

I will have to look into this, to see if I can find out when the "ADS function Open - Error 1212" is returned by GridView.

I am hoping that it is not due to the older, 16-bit Windows 95 O/S - if so, we will not be able to assist you. GridView was not tested on this older platform, and R&D will likely not be supporting it, if this is a cause.

Thank you for reporting this. I should be back to you later today (our time, of course)!

Regards,

Hi Set Lan,

Error 1212 is almost always due to incorrect dictionaries. GridView uses the dictionaries to read the data, so that might be relevant. GridView does not install the Adagio dictionaries, so to attempt to refresh these files, you would have to reinstall the Adagio modules.

Perhaps this station does not have the rights to this directory or the ability of accessing these 32-bit files. As mentioned before, we probably won't support Windows 95.

CHKSYS only checks 'local support files', not program files, so this utility will not identify invalid or old dictionaries.

To be able to create new Views or edit existing Views, the shortcut used to start GridView must have the /c parameter in the path. This is in the documentation in case you want to see how this works.

Regards,

Hi Set Lan,

GridView installs dictionaries for Accpac Plus but not for Adagio. This is because Adagio programs might have additional data files added with new releases, and problems could occur if GridView installs an 'older' dictionary. Accpac Plus will not change in the future, and in order to use GridView with an Accpac Plus site, dictionaries must be installed.

When a new View is created, a list of the dictionaries is displayed. Those meant for Adagio will have 'Adagio' in the name, and those meant for Accpac Plus will have 'Plus' in the name. When you create a new View, what do you see in the 'Select Module' screen?

To look for the dictionaries on your system, use Windows Explorer and go to the drive where GridView was installed. In the \softrak\dict directory is where the dictionaries that GridView uses are stored. The 'Plus' dictionaries have file names that start with '+'.

Regards,
