We have a client who has installed Ledger on their Win 98 system. When they try to print a trial balance ALWIN causes a general protection fault in module SP501XL.DRV. They are not having problems printing in other programs.

Have there been any other reports of this? Any suggestions to resolve it?

Thanks
Matt

Hi Matt,

My first suggestion would be to try a different printer driver. Because the error message is being returned on the driver itself (and not the Ledger program - alwin.exe), the driver may be at least partly associated with the report failure.

We have heard of a GPF error in a printer driver file a couple of other times (not necessarily the same driver you quoted), and in all cases thus far using a different driver has resolved the sitation. Make sure that you have the most recent driver from the printer manafacturer's website, and that it is for the correct version of Windows.

Adagio uses a Crystal Reports print engine to print all reports. If you have any other applications installed on your machine that also uses Crystal Reports, there is a conflict possibility. Though the error would typically not appear in the driver file, you may want to reinstall Adagio Ledger to be sure.

Regards,

Thanks,

We had the client try a different printer and the problem was resolved.

Thanks again for the assistance.

Matt
