Hi Susan,

You never answered whether you are experiencing the same problem when running the DIC from OrderEntry, rather than through DataCare.

I tried running DIC from OE and it ran through fine. However, I only tried it once. It doesn't always lock up in DataCare only maybe 25 - 50% of the time. It's is though it has to work too hard.. it will use all of our system resources and sometimes temporarily kick everyone off the server when it's trying to get through that part. Sometimes it makes it through, sometimes not.

Does it always "lock up" with an error message? Is it always the same one?

Yes, when it locks up, it always locks up at the same place with the same message (as attached in my initial post above). All I have to do is click "ok" and it will complete without incident. However, since it runs on an automated schedule in the middle of the night and no one is there to click "ok", I find out about it in the morning and I have to click "ok" and "cancel", so that we can use the system.

On another note, since we're talking about DataCare, I've always found that Integrity Checks are too demanding on system resourses to run from a local computer and it crashes way too often because it will bump off the server. So, we run it from the server to avoid this. Since the "history filter" was added, now it won't even complete some of the time directly on the server. Also, emailing from DataCare does not work when run from the server which means I don't get any notification when it passes or fails.

Perhaps you could describe your computing environment? Server machine. OS. Ram and disk size. Workstations too. Network speed?

How long does the DIC take when run on a local copy of the data?

PS. If you are running this as a (late night) scheduled task on the server, you might consider changing the job parameters to turn "Require exclusive accesss" to "OFF". This will skip the rebuilding of the Filters step in the DIC. Generally, we would not recommend running data integrity checks without having exclusive access to the data. Late at night it's unlikely to be a problem though.

Edit Reason: Added PS.

Server:
MS Windows Server 2003 for Small Business SP2
Intel Xeon 5120 @ 1.86GHz
4GB RAM
500GB HD

Workstations:
Windows XP Pro SP3
Intel Core2Duo E6750 @ 2.66GHz
2GB Ram
150GB HD

I just tested DataCare Integrity Check from a workstation and it ran in about 10 minutes. Maybe I'll try running it from the workstation again and adding the email results. Worth a try.

After I deleted all History Filters, DIC found an error in the Filter History Matches. It was rebuilt and fixed. I'm now running automated DataCare to do a Back Up, DIC on all modules and sending email notification from my workstation and it's working great. No freezing and runs in about 15 minutes! 8) I love having that email notification. No more trying to remember to look at DataCare to see what happened each night.

Hi Susan,

Glad to hear that it's all running the way it's supposed to.

Thanks for closing the thread.

Also, it's great that I can now back up all files in the data folder.
