I don't see a field available to import item notes. We are producing a new catalogue with thousands of items and would like to import the notes to the notes tab, where it says, "Additional Comments". Is there a way to do this?

GridView Read Write, or ODBC. Both options require significant understanding of the Adagio database structure and how to use these tools in order to successfully complete this task.

If the project is large enough it may be worth having your Adagio consultant assist you as the time saving would likely more than compensate for the cost of their time.

Why is this field not available to import?

It should be. Probably Softrak didn't think it was worth devoting the programming time to adding it, because no one had asked for it before.

It's also not a simple field to add, since it is actually stored in a different table than the other importable item master fields.

You're right. In the five+ years that item notes have been available, no one has ever asked for this. However, I will enter Susan's suggestion for R&D.

How is R&D making out with this request? We still want to import/export notes in IC.

Susan:

Softrak gets a long list of feature requests every year. Typically they can only implement those that are requested often.

Unfortunately this is not something that is highly requested.

Amazingly, today I got this exact request from another client, who writes:

"Is there a way we can import item information into adagio? We want to use notes (in IC) for item specific information."

It's a totally reasonable request, since you can import notes in Receivables 9.1x and Ledger 9.1x. Is it possible that this is a 9.0 feature - I notice you can't import notes in Payables 8.1x.
