I am getting a variance between the total in the ledger (which I have run through the Detail Lising) and what is showing up in the financial reports. ???

What version of Ledger?

What "total in the ledger" are you referring to? I just took a look at the Detail Listing and there is no total figure in there at all.

Which financial reports? Balance Sheet? Income Statement?

If the Net Income figure at the bottom of a complete trial balance is not agreeing to the YTD figure in your Income Statement, then most likely your income statement spec needs work. The only other possibility is that an account is set up with the wrong "type" - balance sheet account instead of an income statement account, or vice versa.

Ledger is 9.0C

Reports, Detail Listing, when I run the detail it gives an account balance at the end of the report.

The financial report is an income statement and the account that is specifically giving me issues is a revenue account.

This is not a report calculating wrong. On the IS this particular revenue account is its own detail line and the amount is not the same as what the detail listing shows. If you go into Inquiries, View Transactions the balance that is shown there matches the detail listing.

What is the release date of Ledger 9.0C? When you're in Help | About, the release date is enclosed in brackets and in a yymmdd format.

The current service pack for 9.0C has a release date of (110131) and contained a fix for the Detail Listing report. Make sure it is installed.

I have updated the service pack and it made no difference, I still have a variance in the balance of the account from what shows when you look at the g/l account balance and what shows on the IS.

I have found the transaction that was causing me grief... needless to say it was operator error. Thanks for your help!
