I am working on a new system for my boss. He has a stand alone Lexmark E320 printer and a couple of times a day he gets a Spool 32 error when printing from Adagio Inventory. It is the latested version of Adagio and is a network version. The server is a NT 4.x with SP 6a. The workstation is a Pentium 4 1.7Ghz with Windows 98SE. When the Error happens all the printers in the My Computer>Printers area disapear. When he reboots the system they all come back and he is able to print again for a while. I was wondering if there are any known issues with this printer.

I did a proper ALLWSKT.exe done on this station.

I know that with some printers I had to not use the PCL 6 drivers and load the PCL 5 version. I am running the PCL 5 on this printer.

What is it better to use in the printer, RAW or EMF?

Dear Gerald

Perhaps one of the links on this page will help with your Spool32 problems...

Based on the wealth of information on the subject, there could be many reasons for this to occur - why Adagio IC seems to trigger it could be due to the size of the report, or how many records it has to check before actually selecting the ones for that specific report. However, if no other station can duplicate this, it is likely due to a setting, a missing file or an invalid version of a Windows' file that is the culprit.

There are no settings in Adagio that will address this or prevent it!

Good luck!

I was not really looking for a setting in the software. I was looking for a list of possible incompatibilities with Adagio and certain printers or certain PCL or PS emulations.

I would except that some people may have tried the same model as I have here with similar results. They might be able to tell me to try this version of the driver or emulation. Or perhaps that this printer will never work. For example, I have a client with a certain printer. They have an industry specific software package that will not print certain reports unless they use the PS driver and other reports that require the PCL5E driver only. The solution was to get a different printer from a different manufacture. The driver worked fine in all reports using the PCL5e driver for this printer.

Very similar to the problems some people have had in Adagio using PCL6 drivers.
