A client who got a new Windows7 computer was having problems seeing all of the buttons on certain Adagio screens.

I went into Control Panel | Display and changed the setting from Medium 125% to Small 100% and after re-logging, everything is visible, but the display size is tiny and my client is not happy about that, especially since she has side-by-side monitors with lots of screen space.

Is there a way I could have fixed the problem without reducing the resolution?

Adagio needs a normal DPI in the display settings. If the text is too small for the user to see, then they need to change the resolution to see larger characters.

Hello:
It seems to me that Andrew said during one of the recent partner webinars that the module under discussion that day now handled Large Fonts on Windows 7. My hearing is pretty good but my memory is fallible. confused

I heard the same thing come out of Andrew's mouth. That's really why I asked the question.

As for tech support's reply, the problem is the opposite - the text is too large and it gets chopped off.

There's an "Advanced" button on the Windows 7 display dialog that offers the tick box to "Use XP mode". This needs to be turned off for the scaling to work properly. Your choice is not remembered and has to be set each time. If Steve is seeing text that's too large and is getting clipped, then this option has not been set properly.

The Large Font support under Windows 7 is supported in everything except the "Print Preview" mode in the Forms Designer. We're trying to discover why this isn't working properly, and when we do it will corrected in a Service Pack. Printing works fine.

Hi Andrew

On my Windows 7 computer, I don't see the tick box under the "Advanced" button. I see it under Control Panel | Display | Set Custom Text Size (DPI). It's to the left of the OK and Cancel buttons. But it's totally greyed out (and checked off). I couldn't untick it if I wanted to. Yet Adagio looks fine on my screen.

Is there somewhere else I need to go to be able to untick the box if I wanted to?

I've also run into this situation and wondered if there is an answer to this. The tick box is also greyed out for me.

Found this on a Google search:

On Windows 7, if you go to Display > Set Custom text size (DPI), the "Use Windows XP Style DPI scaling" option is disabled (greyed out).

What do I need to do to enable this option?

--------------------------------------------

I think you will find that "XP style DPI scaling" is only relevant if you have the aero interface active.

I've just confirmed on my machine - if I disable aero, the option becomes unavailable and when I then reactivate aero this reactivates the option.

If the aero interface is deactive you will effectively be using XP style scaling anyway because you are using the XP style interface.
