Is there a way to select a range of accounts to delete? or why does it transfer departmental accounts into GL list when cloning a company and you haven't selected departments?

No, accounts can be deleted one at a time within GL.

Deselecting Departments in Clone Company means you don't want the department list to be set up. Existing Account-Department pairs are still cloned. GL has no way of knowing, for example, which account in the list of Account-Department pairs you want it to copy.

It is possible to mass-delete all of the accounts in a department, if none of them have ever been used (say for example you copy one department to a new one and accidentally use an incorrect department code).

In this case, all you have to do is to delete the new department code, and it will offer to delete the associated accounts.
