Had a funny importing issue today. After upgrading to 9.0C (20100511), a user called today saying what has changed because I can't upload my payroll data today. (Person has done it for several months without error). It took a bit but the amount cell shows 3718.50, but the cell acutally contains:
='C:\WINNT\Profiles\camah\Personal\[Payroll Worksheets.xls]Seattle'!$C$14+'C:

Once I realized this and copied the data to a new spreadsheet, using paste special | Values, it accepted the workbook as valid but all the date formats fail. It would report the serial date number 40298 (this is april date code, but it showed the date code for May 31, 2010). In my template I had to set it up as user defined mm/dd/yyyy when we first started using the import feature several years ago. Today I had to change the template to Win Format: dd/mm/2010.

Was able to get the file to import correctly.

Any other changes in the batch importing that I will find out about tomorrow when we do the bulk of our importing.

Thank

Jeffrey:

Not sure why your having a problem with the Excel spreadsheet in the firts place but;

One of the problem with Excel is that it tends to format data the way it wants to, not the way you want it to.

If you are using an import template then you may need to change the default date format that template uses.

Have changed the date format and it's working correctly. We just had to add the extra step of copying into a new workbook and using paste spepical | valuses.
