Is there a way to import special pricing from a spreadsheet?

Susan:

There is nothing built into Adagio.

I'm currently working with Dakota Software to turn a custom solution that they did for one of my clients into a add-on product for Adagio. The basic concept of this solution is Special Price list maintenance, including import of special prices from an Excel spreadsheet.

If you are interested in this solution please contact me directly.

(for Susan)

I can think of only one reason why someone would use Special Prices instead of Alternative Price Lists (you can discount based on a category), and many reasons for the reverse, including the ability to import Alternative Price Lists. Why do you feel the need to use Special Prices?

(for Douglas)

Why bother creating a custom solution when GridView Read/Write offers an admittedly non-elegant solution for "importing" special prices, especially now that you can add new records? Or is Dakota's custom solution a better value for the money?

Steve

Hi Steve,

We've never used Alternative Price Lists and not sure if it might be a benefit to us. We use special prices for customers such as sub-distributors who we give better than usual pricing to. So an item is normally $70, we sell it to a particular subdistributor for $65. Other customers that do volume with us we give special pricing on particular items for that reason.

What is Gridview Read/Write?

Susan:

By the sounds of it Alternative Price list may be the answer for you. It allows alternative base price and discount levels to be created and assigned to customers. Special prices tends to be for industries that do one off pricing for a specific group of items for a specific customer.

Steve:

A. It does a lot more than just import special prices.
B. Few end users are comfortable using a read-write tool, let alone turing their staff loose with such a tool.
