One of our users is receiving the following message:

Access violation at address 00404CDA in module ‘OEWIN.EXE’ Read of Address 04745E40

when trying to access Order Entry. When she clicks okay on the error, she gets a blank screen with the Main Menu highlighted but nothing else. When we check active users it shows that she is in the program, but cannot create orders. No one else is experiencing this problem. She can access all other Adagio programs such as Invoices and Purchase Orders. I've tried getting her to go in through Invoices but she gets the same message

Hi,

Can you tell me what version(RelDate) of OE is in use? Also, the operating system of the workstation experiencing the problem, the name of the antivirus software used on the workstation and whether or not there is a CustomRP or and/or ModRP folder within the Softrak\OEWIN folder on the server.

We've seen instances of this error after a Trend Micro AntiVirus update occurred on a workstation. The software had to be uninstalled or rolled back to a previous version.

We've also this error on a Vista/Win7 workstation when a CustomRP or ModRP subfolder exists in the Softrak\OEWIN folder on the server.

What version of OrderEntry? Can she access the sample data? If she log in from another workstation what happens? Could she log into OrderEntry on Friday?

Version 8.1C
Operating system is Vista and antivirus software is AVG
There is a CustomRP subfolder in the Softrak\OEWIN folder, but it has been there for sometime and we haven't added anything recently.
No the same error occurs when trying to access sample data
If she logs in on another workstation she has access
She couldn't log in on Friday, but doesn't use it every day so I can't tell when the error occurred.

Hi,

Did she recently get a new workstation since she accessed OE last?

This is definitely related to the workstation and not the user. When she logs in on another workstation, is it an XP w/s?

Are the CustomRPs used by other (XP) workstations? (Note: This user will not be able to use them at all.) If so, you can try:

Create a subfolder equal to the Adagio Group name for the user who runs the reports. For example \softrak\oewin\CustomRP\ADMIN. You will need one folder per any Group that one or more users belong to who need to print custom reports. Move the reports from \softrak\oewin\CustomRP to the new folder(s). This is redundant but unavoidable. Make sure there are no .rpt files in \softrak\oewin\CustomRP.

If the CustomRPs are not used by anyone anymore, remove them and the CustomRP folder from Softrak\OEWIN.

No she didn't get a new work station
She logged in on an XP
The custom reports are used by other work stations, she does not use the custom reprots

It is known that if a Vista or Windows 7 workstation is used to start an Adagio program that contains a CustomRP folder with custom reports, an access violation error will occur. Windows XP users will not have the problem. I'm surprised that it ever worked on a workstation that uses Vista when reports were availabe to load, if that is what you are indicating. There is currently no 'fix' to make CustomRP reports work on a Vista workstation.

As from our previous post in this thread, if you want this user to be able to load Order Entry from a Vista or Windows 7 workstation, you will need to remove the CustomRP report visibility for them, using the techniques as described. As you mentioned that you would like other users to have access to CustomRP reports, you should not completely remove the CustomRP directory but instead ensure that no RPT report files exist directly in the \CustomRP folder, but instead that all report files are contained in 'security group sub-folders'.
