I downloaded the DDExporterInstall.exe program, and placed it in the softrak\system directory.

I am able to install it successfully onto my own system.

However, when we try to install it at the client we receive an error message: "file f:\softrak\system could not be opened"

We are installing the program from the client's workstation, and copied the exe file into f:\softrak\system.
As well, we had all users exit from Adagio before we tried the install, just in case.

What are we missing?

Hi Sam:

The DDExporterInstall.exe file does not have to be in the System folder. It could be placed on the C: drive and the installation started from there.

Could this be a permissions problem of some sort?

Hi Samuel,

The DataDictionaryExporter.exe program does need to be in the \softrak\system. But the installation program that puts this exe into the folder does not.

If you get an error during the installation, then Bruce may be correct that there is a rights issue for this user to that folder, which would not be good as this is a very important folder as far as Adagio is concerned.

The DataDictionaryExporter.exe program does not require a special installation to set up paths, etc. If you can locate a copy of it somewhere else, such as your system, you can simply copy it to your clients f:\softrak\system and run it from there.
