Hi Barbara,
This error is typically indicative of a corrupted batch control file. When you attempt to modify this file (ie post batches, etc), you would get this message.
Your choices are to either restore the data from a prior backup or have the data repaired.
You might be able to do something yourself:
1) Backup your data
2) Archive any open batches you want to save. Any batches you can't archive will be lost and must be re-entered from scratch. Perhaps you can export those un-archivable batches.
3) Close Adagio Invoices
4) In your data directory, remove or delete all files that start with 'QIB' (and only those files). This encompasses the Invoice batch control files and the batches themselves.
5) Open Adagio Invoices. This will recreate the batch control files.
6) If you were able to save some batches by archiving them, go into the archive system and restore them. If you exported any batches, import them back. For those batches that were unsavable, they will have to be re-entered
The reason for data files becoming corrupted is typically related to a momemtary hardware problem or power surge, but can sometimes be due to improper multi-user setup. I would suspect the former rather than the latter, otherwise you would be experiencing data corruption very frequently.
