We add/edit customer's ship to addresses in Receivables 9.0A (090928) using Edit/Customer/Contacts-Ship. Adagio requires that we put something in the Tax Group field. We enter this as "1" since we only have 1 Tax Group. We have never enetered anything in Tax Type so it defaults to 0. We actually have 4 different Tax Types and each customer is set up to their appropriate Tax Type where their billing information is stored.. Unfortunately we just realized that OE Invoices have been using the Tax Type 0 as set up in the Shipping Address instead of the correct Tax Type that is set up in the customers billing information.

Is there a way to disable the Tax section in the Shipping addresses so Adagio will always use the Tax Type that is set up in the customers billing information?

Hi Susan,

The tax status on the shipping address (which is a new field and not previously available) will always override whatever is set on the customer master, and currently it cannot be left blank - otherwise it will default as zero.

In order to have the same tax status for all shipping addresses as for the customer, you would need to change the tax status on the shipping addresses - perhaps using the Import Contact/Shipto function would be quickest.

I tested the conversion of Receivables data from 81A to 90A and it properly set the tax status of the ship-to address to that of the customer. So only new ship-to addresses would be affected, and you need to ensure that the correct status is set on the ship-to.

It would be nice if when enterring a new ship to address Adagio would default to the same tax type as set up in the billing information for the same customer.

I agree. Not just that field, but Softrak should look at each Contact field and use its judgment to determine what the best default value should be.

Tax Status is the exception to the rule. All other fields for Ship-to addresses as blank means that the customer record is used. If blank for both the Ship-to address and the Customer, then the OE Entry template is used.

Default values are not necessary for these.

Perhaps a blank tax status should behave like the other fields and refer to the customer master rather than 0.
