Hi Gery,

Are you aware if anything has changed in your controller's working environment, such as getting a new computer or network settings, or upgrading Office? What version of Quik Link are you running?

Is the error in loading the program or trying to open a spreadsheet?

This error usually is due to an incorrect path, such as trying to locate Excel, or the location of the data in the links. You might want to try removing the icon used for launching Quik Link and reinstall, just in case a system change lost a setting for Quik Link.

That's about all I can offer for now.

Regards,
Softrak Support

Hi Gery

If reinstalling QL did not help, then maybe the following information would help.

Normally, for best results, QL should be installed on the same drive that Excel is installed on. If you do not have Microsoft licensing to run Excel on the Server, with multiple users, then Excel would be installed on the local drive of the User needing to run it. This is where QL would get installed.

Without knowing the exact information, I would suggest the following...

IF QL is installed locally:
1. Reinstall Excel to the local drive of the User. (Perhaps use Windows Add/Remove programs to uninstall it first.)
2. Check the local drive as well as the Server to ensure that there are no other installs of QuikLink - this can cause conflicts.
3. Reinstall QL to the local C:\ drive. Pay close attention to where it installs - you should get a chance to change the drive and/or path ...

The Program Directory should point to C:\SOFTRAK\QUIKLNK7.

The Excel Path should point to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\EXCEL.EXE (IF that is the path where you installed Excel to - QL should find the EXCEL.EXE and automatically come up with the correct path on the local drive).

The Data Path should be the path to the ACCPAC Plus data that he would normally be using, you can click Browse to find it.

The Data Extension should automatically default, based on the data path you browsed to in the above step - if not, type it in now.

The ACCPAC Plus Drive is the drive where the ACCPAC programs are installed (it will be looking for the ASP directory in particular, the ASP\DATADICT folder). This would be the drive where he starts ACCPAC Plus from when starting up ACCPAC WSM - it may not necessarily be the same as where the data is kept, but it might. To find out, just go into ACCPAC Plus on his system and go down to the GL dataset he wishes to link to - press TAB to find the correct drive to define here.

4. When you are sure that you have given the correct information in the QL Install Selection screen, proceed with the install and follow any other prompts that come up accordingly.

Now that both Excel and QL have been re-established, you can be fairly certain that they are stable. If the problem persists, it would be reasonable to assume it is due to something else.

Thanks
