Hi Harry,

There are a few things you can check to determine what is happening.

- There is a file in your database that Adagio 6.8A creates to locate other important files such as the user file. It is called ADSPROF.dat, and is a small text file. Delete this file and open any Adagio product to recreate it. You will be asked on logging in for the location of the eztasks and currency files.

If you had previously used Accpac Plus, this will be X:\ASP. If you did not use Accpac Plus, this will be \Softrak\system. This also will determine the location of your user file. Enter the correct paths and continue. If SYS and SYS do not work, then something else is incorrect.

If you haven't installed the 6.8 versions yet, the files you want to look for and remove are ezcomfil.ld4 and excomtab.ld4.

- The name of the file that contains the user names is ezssiusr.ld4, and can be found in the directory mentioned above. If you rename/delete this file, it will be recreated the next time you log into Adagio. All of the user names except SYS will be removed, but SYS should work. If it doesn't, something else is not working.

- Did you change anything with your machine or network since the last time Adagio was in use? I'm thinking of things such as adding a Terminal server or peer-peer network, or change your version of Windows on your computer. If any significant changes such as these were made, then I would suggest reinstalling the Adagio program in case one or more files were lost during the change. Make sure that the user who does the installation has supervisory rights to the network and the workstation.

Hi Harry,

When I posted the file name as ADSPROF.dat, I should also have mentioned that 'dat' really refers to the data extension of your data. So if your data actually has a file extension of 'ABC', then the file name you should look for is 'ADSPROF'ABC'. If you are browsing, perhaps look for ADSPROF.* which will find all occurences.

Since you upgraded to 6.8A from an earlier version, you should have both of the other fields ezcomfil.ld4 (sorry about the mis-typing) and ezcurfil.ld4 in your data directory. They will not hurt anything by being there, but since they are replaced by ADSPROF, you can safely remove both of these files.

The ezssiusr.ld4 file that you found in the program directory would be the last file you can try to remove and recreate. If you are concerned about deleting files, you can also rename the file (ie the extention from 'ld4' to 'old') and you will get the same results.

If removing and recreating the ezssiusr.ld4 does not help, then something in your network environment is preventing Adagio from working as it should. Typically it has to do with user rights, either via the network or the workstation (if it is Windows NT, 2000, or XP).

Good luck with your findings.
