This will be my first time at this - hope I am doing this right- I have a problem - i installed adagia on a new computer with the vista operating system yesterday; since then it has 'frozen' partway through each of my adagio sessions. I haven't been able to close or exit the program. Nor have I been able to reset or normally shut down my computer. I have had to turn it off.

Hi, Carrie,

Are you doing anything in particular each time your computer freezes? printing a specific report? posting? ? Do you receive any error messages of any kind?

Please make sure you do a backup prior to posting any batches (and daily) and to check your data integrity any time this happens (File | Data Integrity Check).

It would be a good idea to have your network tech come in and check your network connections, ensuring your network interface card is seating securely, etc..

I have been able to enter and post a batch, or do one or 2 tasks at a time [add dept/acct] but it seems like once I stop and leave it for a minute or 2, it then freezes. No messages. It has done this six times since yesterday. I am getting on the server fine and no other problems w/computer so far. Could there be a compatibility issue as it was working fine with xp?

Adagio needs to be at least version 8.1A to work on Vista.

I've been running Adagio on Vista for over two years without problems such as those you have been experiencing.

Carrie:

What flavor of Visat do you have? Adagio only supports Vista Business. Other versions of Vista tend to disconnect unexpectedly from the server.

You mention that this only happens when you leave the computer for a few minutes. Make sure that the computers power management in not set to laptop mode. This setting would cause everything to go to sleep after a few minutes of inactivity, effectively hanging or giving the appearance of being hung.

I am using version 9.0b; computer is not sleeping BUT I did check and Vista Home Premium is the operating system that was pre-installed. This is probably it! Worked fine for 1 1/2 hours this a.m. and all of a sudden it did the same. I will see if I can updgrade - thanks everyone.
