Yes, we use MICR on our cheques.
The files that are left open each night are:
APMICRB.TTF
APMICRBN.TTF
APMICRBW.TTF
APMICRL.TTF
APMICRLN.TTF
APMICRLW.TTF
APMICRN.TTF
APMICRW.TTF
Instead of logging off my XP Workstation that's joined to an SBS domain, I only "disconnect" to allow a scheduled task to run a back up. For whatever reason, unless I actually "log off" the TTF files remain open, even though I have no programs open.
About a year ago, someone crashed an Adagio program during the day and it inadvertently left Adagio data files open on the server even after everything had been closed and logged off for the day. When we ran the day end in Ledger (retrieved and posted the batches), the open files caused Ledger to crash. Our only option was to restore our Ledger data from a back up. We were lucky it worked out in the end, but it could have been a very bad data situation.
To avoid that from occurring again, we made it part of our daily routine to log into the server and view the Active Files Console and ensure that there are no Adagio related files open before proceeding to running the Day End.
This is why we notice every night the .TTF files that remain open. We manually close them from the Active Files Console, but I'm guessing that if they were left open and we ran the day end, it wouldn't be an issue since they are unrelated to data or .DAT files.
