Hi there!
My issue is from Sales CQ 8.1 (080314).
Template could be pre-loaded with Adagio Sample, or created in Microsoft 2007 and saved as a .dot file. (Same result)

I do a mail merge to say 3 people, G, J and myself. I specify the template file.dot. CQ sends the converted .doc file.
I can open the attachment just fine when it gets to my inbox, however, when J and G open the file it contains just garble. This happens with any template file and doesn't matter if I send MAPI or Direct.
Thanks for any help!
Laura

Just a thought: did you use a font that exists on your computer but is not installed on the others? If you think this might be the case, try a document with only Times New Roman or Arial.

When you say garbled does it look like the characters where replaced with symbols or does it look like all of the characters have moved to the left so are on top of each other?

Doug, Replaced with symbols and letters.
Ralph, Written with Times New Roman.

Answer from Softrak: Because the spec was written in 2007 (even though I saved it down to a lower version) and tried to open in 2003, there are merge features in 2007 that creates the .doc from the .dot so the 2003 version cannot read it.
BUT... As per their direction, I just re-wrote it in 2003 and sent again and got the same result.

The only thing I can think of now, is because 2007 is on my machine, that Adagio uses some 2007 components in it REGARDLESS of how the template was written, and so 2003 users cannot open it. That leaves me with the only option to create the template AND send it on a machine with 2003 AND Sales CQ.
Ho Humm... it would be nice if that were different.
Thanks for your help, Laura

Hi, Laura,

Using a template that was definitely created using Excel 2003, I just tested sending a CQ attachement from an Excel 2007 w/s to a w/s that uses Excel 2003. The attachment that arrived was not garbled. I also selected to use a cover sheet.

When I choose not to use the cover sheet, the file does arrive garbled.

Also, when the file is sent from an Excel 2003 workstation everything comes through clearly.

I will document the 'lack of cover sheet' result for R&D.

Thanks,
I always use a cover sheet. I still get garble when sending from 2007 w/s.
The only scenario I haven't tested is when the .dot is created in 2007 but SENT using a 2003 w/s.
