When our users start the Payables module, the application terminates immediately after the splash is displayed without an error message.

Could this be related to the recent installation of Crystal Reports 8.5 for Adagio?

Does anything else happen, such as a workstation setup wanting to run?

Installing Crystal Reports for Adagio will not cause this type of behaviour. More likely is that Adagio Payables cannot find a registry entry or some required program file, which may be due to your Terminal Services configuration. As you indicated in another post that you are using Windows server 2008, you might want to investigate the 'SetServer2008' utility on Softrak's website. This can be obtained from the Compatibility page on our website, describing Windows Server 2008, here.

This is puzzling as it was working yesterday on the same server. Our users were able to work effectively on the same servers except for the cheque alignment problem.

According to the application, Oplocks are disabled, but we are using SMB2 with DFS. We're not doing any replication, but we are using DFS to keep a unified namespace. So far it hasn't caused any troubles. Will moving to SMB1 tangibly impact our system or other applications?

As for workstation setup wanting to run - there are no errors or alerts. It looks like it starts normally, showing the application window behind the splash screen, then both the splash and window disappear.

Hi Mavis,

Setting up Adagio on a new server really requires the help of your Adagio consultant. There is a limit to the type of assistance we can provide through the forum.

One thought is that the auto-workstation install is attempting to start (due to something that changed and made the installed files out of synch) but is unable to. Try running the workstation setup in \softrak\apwin\wksetup\wksetup.exe and see if that helps.

I suppose one problem is that the Crystal Reports install changed something in the \qrasp directory, though I would have expected different behaviour than what you are experiencing.

Mavis:

Given that it was working yesterday and stopped working today the first question that comes to mind is "What changed?".

Has security been changed?
Was a last minute update installed?

I would try re-installing payables.

This appears to have been the culprit. I tried this last night before I got your response and the application now works well.

Thank you.
