Suggestion for the next OE version. We'd like to add Serial Numbers to Orders before they are invoiced. OE does not allow it currently. OE requires that you have shipped quantities before it will allow you to add Serial Numbers. We have to keep track of hundreds of serial numbers and often have the orders picked, but not ready to Invoice for various reasons (confirmation of pricing, shipping costs etc.). The inability to add the serial numbers in advance creates great difficulties for our productivity. We have it unchecked in company profile where it says, "Qty Shipped on Orders". It's not a good option for us to change that for fear of shipped orders falling throught the cracks and never getting invoiced.

Thanks for the suggestion. Due to legacy compatibility requirements, we wouldn't be able to implement this until we can change the database layout and break compatibility. This change is planned but not imminent.

As you noted - for others reading this post - the option to 'allow quantity shipped on orders' currently allows you to save serial numbers and see/print calculated taxes and still post just the order, and not the invoice and not log items as shipped. Use in combination with 'default posting to orders' option so that by default the posted document type is an order and you don't accidentally invoice the order.

Yes, I'm worried that quantities shipped would not get invoiced. We would have to change and/or implement a new procedure to deal with it.

Currently we: 1)Create Pick List 2)Pick the Order 3)Add Shipped Quantities and Invoice the Shipped Quantities 4)Ship the Shipped Quantities. Nothing leaves our building without being Invoiced first.

If we enable Shipped Quantities at the Order stage, it opens up the ability to ship quantities without Invoicing. It could have some benefits, but I'd have to consider how to make sure the Invoicing isn't overlooked.

As long as you prevent people from deleting orders, it's pretty easy to identify orders that have not been invoiced.

...and is the Purchase Order problem solved?

We delete orders often (duplications, cancellations, etc.)

POA - not sure.. I tried a little trick that Ryan told me about.. reducing the size of the window until it disappears off the screen then hit esc. It has been corrected for the moment but recurs at random. Next time it happens I'll respond on the thread if one of the suggested solutions works.

OK - you can't delete an invoice, so the trick is to find some way of making sure that an order that is shipped is immediately invoiced. How about creating a document that the shipping department has to print before an order goes out the door and making it an "invoice". If the shipping department prints this document for inclusion with the order, then Adagio will think an invoice has been printed and prevent people from deleting it.
