I am having difficulty posting certain items on the June physical inventory reconciliation for one of our locations (our main kitchen). It says that the system has put these items on hold and as a result I am not able to post any adjustments. I checked under Enter/Edit physical inventory and in fact the items in question were on hold for that location (not sure why, probably an accident by a staff member) but I can't change it. When I try to change it, it seems okay for a while but then when I try to post the reconciliation again I get the same error message again and then find that the items are still on hold. This happens despite the fact that I know I removed the hold on all the items (and I clicked "OK" afterwards, not "Cancel" when I was done changing each one). I ran a data integrity check on IC and there were no errors.

Not sure what is going on here. While I try to resolve this, should we start posting transfers for July for this location? Or will that mess up my July IC reconciliation? Thanks.

Hi, Sanovik,

You haven't indicated the version and release date of Inventory you are using and knowing this is often helpful to us.

As well, you haven't indicated what the exact error message you received is.

However, there are a couple of reasons why the system might be putting the item(s) on hold -- it isn't allowed at that particular location, or someone else on the network is accessing the item and you need to wait until they are finished.

If the item hasn't been allowed at the location, you can allow it by accessing the Edit Item for Location function or, if items should always be allowed for all locations, you can turn on that option in the Company Profile.

About posting to July, IF you have printed the physical inventory worksheet, done the actual count and entered the information, it should be okay for you to continue processing. However, if you have not yet done these things, you should not be doing anything that will affect the items. This includes transactions that would be entered in OrderEntry, Invoices or PurchaseOrders if integrated with Inventory.

I am using version 8.1A. Not sure of the release date. Here is the error message: "Unable to Post some item details. Those items have been placed on hold by the system."

Hi, Sanovnik,

Thank you. You can see the release date on the splash screen when you first open the module or by selecting Help from the main menu of any module followed by About. It's the (yymmdd) date that is immediately to the right of the version code in parentheses.

Are you still receiving this message and unable to take the items off hold? Have you ensured that no one else could be accessing the items in any way? Also, have you checked to ensure that those items have be enabled at that location?
