You haven't indicated the version and release date of Inventory you are using and knowing this is often helpful to us.
As well, you haven't indicated what the exact error message you received is.
However, there are a couple of reasons why the system might be putting the item(s) on hold -- it isn't allowed at that particular location, or someone else on the network is accessing the item and you need to wait until they are finished.
If the item hasn't been allowed at the location, you can allow it by accessing the Edit Item for Location function or, if items should always be allowed for all locations, you can turn on that option in the Company Profile.
About posting to July, IF you have printed the physical inventory worksheet, done the actual count and entered the information, it should be okay for you to continue processing. However, if you have not yet done these things, you should not be doing anything that will affect the items. This includes transactions that would be entered in OrderEntry, Invoices or PurchaseOrders if integrated with Inventory.
