Hello,
We are changing our procedures to get away from the Financial Reporter.

We are now doing the following:
1) Select File | Export | Accounts

2) Select the export template
• GLACCT_CMW for Commonwealth Insurance.
• GLACCT_CICA for CICA

The export is set to export the file to Excel. Once completed we open the file and get the following 2 errors:
File error: Some formats may have been lost.
File error: data may have been lost.

Any idea why this happens? We are using excel 2003 and excel 2007 and both programs display this error.

Thanks

oh PS

I've tried doing the export as a cvs file but a number of our department codes are displayed as 2.1E+87 instead of 21BYB1. Tring to reformat the cell changes all the 2.1E+87 type number to 21000.

Hello Jeffrey,

Unless you are exporting more than 16000 accounts, it's unlikely any data has been lost. The export control formats the data according to a very old version of Excel, and the newer versions seem to generate this message every time they open the file.

Regarding the PS - when you open the CSV file in Excel, tell it that the column containing your account numbers contains text. Then the figures will come in properly. This is a common problem when loading CSV files into Excel. It's more commonly noticed with telephone numbers.

Yes our accounts listing for our main company is 28,000+ accounts. The boss is concerned when a data loss error message is displayed.

I'll try the cvs suggestion. Thanks.

As Andrew mentioned, Adagio exports to an older version of Excel (because there are still people using that version).

See the solution in the second item in FAQs from Business Computer Centre .
