Is there a way to ALERT when invoicing an item that is already committed on a Sales Order for another customer? For example, if Customer A has an order set up for quantity 1 of item ABC and we have a total quantity of 1 in stock. Then Cusomter B comes along and orders quantity 1 of the same item. Since Customer's A order has not been invoiced yet, the quantity 1 can be invoiced to Customer B without any warning to the person entering the order. Then when we get around to invoicing Customer A's order, the item is out of stock.

I'm assuming that you have not revised the item grid for selecting items in OE that would show you the Qty on Hand, Qty on Sales Order, and Qty on PO. By default the grid only shows the item# and description, but always need to revise this grid for every item selection so that you can see the qty status of that item, as above.

That being said, we have also been testing a Gridview 9.0 drill down that links between Inventory, Purchase Orders for Adagio, and Order Entry. Upon selecting the item, you can see instantly (say 3 -4 seconds) qty on hand and/or available as a calculated column, and which PO's by expected receipt date, and which SO's are committed to for that item. Using an inventory of about 75000 skus.

Our grid shows Qty on Hand, Qty on SO and Qty on PO, but when entering orders, people at times use what's on hand anyway.. (too convenient?). I suppose a staff meeting could solve the problem but I thought I might be able to use the system to prevent them from selling someone else's product.
