Hi

When I import the bank statement I got some error for the date field. In the bank file it appear 2009/04/14, so I changed it into the template yyyy/mm/dd but I got the same error message.
I saved the bank file as a csv file. I also tried to convert the csv file to an Excel file the same error message appeared.

Hi Monique,

I tested this out with BankRec 8.1A and I was able to use the 'User Specified' date format of yyyy/mm/dd to import a CSV-formatted bank statement file. The import completed succesfully with a date value of 2009/04/14, and "2009/04/14" also worked.

There is something more to this one. First, ensure that the import template saved the User Specified date format. Second, make sure of the format for the date in the import file doesn't have anything else but yyyy/mm/dd.

What is the exact error message? Usually the text of the message will give a clue as to the nature of the problem.

What is the Windows Regional Settings language? Date format? It's possible if you have a French setting then this could affect things, but that is why there is a 'Win Format' option within import and date formatting.

If there are errors in importing, a list is maintained in a file BRIMPERR.dat in your company data directory, where 'dat' is your Adagio data extension.

HI

The error message is Invalid data for field called date of record 1 and so on.

The Windows Regional Settings language is French (Canada).

Could the fields be in a different order?
Or an expected field is missing?
Or there is a comma in a field resulting in an extra field?

Any of those could result in number or string data appearing in a field that is supposed to be a date.

Hi

I changed the Windows Regional Settings language to English (US)then I tried the date was ok but I got an error into the description field because I got some french caracter like "chèque, dépôt" so I changed the description field to a FILLER then I was able to import the statement.

The problem is "I don't have any description".

The problem is a language problem.

Hi Monique,

Glad to hear things are working better than they were.

One setting in BankRec that might help is the 'Use extended character set' option within the Import Bank Statement template. The purpose of this option is to allow French characters and others not in the standard ASCII character set. With this enabled, perhaps that would save you time if you wanted to import the description and not have to clean the bank file of French characters.
