Using A/R 8.1a

Can anyone explain why Adagio would skip batch numbers when creating a new adjustment batch in A/R? It jumped from batch #10 and went directly to #13. Our accounting clerk confirmed she did not delete these missing batches. Is there a way to do an audit trail to see what may have happened?
Thanks
Karin

Hi, Karin,

This situation happens when people do improper restores of data. The reason the batch number goes from, say batch 5 to 7 and skips 6, is because an 'orphan' batch file for 6 already exists in the data. The files in this example for the orphan batch would be ARA0006I.xxx and ARA0006R.xxx (where 'xxx' is your 3-character data extension).

The orphan file(s) should be renamed or removed from the data folder.

If you're uncomfortable doing any of these things, it's probably best to contact your Adagio dealer and have them take care of this for you.

Thanks for the quick reply!
The last data restore would have occurred on in January. Our last digit doesn't correspond with an I or R as in your example, but D and H. Our currently opened batches are:
ARA0008D.CNA (actual batch)
ARA0008H.CNA
ARA0009D.CNA (actual batch)
ARA0009H.CNA
ARA0010D.CNA (actual batch)
ARA0010H.CNA
ARA0011D.CNA (skipped batch)
ARA0011H.CNA
ARA0012D.CNA (skipped batch)
ARA0012H.CNA
ARA0013D.CNA (actual batch)
ARA0013H.CNA

So we should delete the 4 batch files for 11 and 12? Would they eventually clear on their own?
Thanks
Karin

Hi, Karin,

I'm sorry, my error of course. Yes, you're looking for D and H files in this example.

And, yes, you should rename or remove the 11 and 12 batch files that were skipped.

After the files are removed, the problem won't re-occur again next year (i.e. after year end is run and the batch number sequence is reset to start back at '1').

For this year, however, those numbers (11 and 12) won't be used, as the sequential numbering has already gone past them.
