Running Adagio Payables 8.1A (080821) and attempting to delete Vendors on our Vendor list that we no longer deal with. Error message says, "Deleting vendor "1111" is not permitted due to historical transactions of file". What is the solution to this?

Hi Susan,

If there are historical transactions for the vendor, then it cannot be deleted. As there currently isn't a 'purge history' function in AP, as there is in AR, you have to purge history via the period end or year end function.

In AR we're able to delete customers any time we want to whether they have historical transactions or not. I don't want to delete transaction history in AP because we still use the history on our current vendors. Why can't we delete vendors the same way we delete customers? It makes sense if the transaction history for the particular vendor we're deleting be deleted at the same time without wiping out all of our current vendors history?

I don't disagree with you. It currently works this way because it's the way it works, because we still maintain compatibility with Accpac Plus AP.

I can pass on the suggestion to allow deleting vendors with only historical transactions, and also the suggestion for a purge history function that allows vendor selection (both of which exist in AR).

Yes, please pass on the suggestion. In the meantime, maybe I can combine them all into one Vendor called "Obsolete" using Dakota's ToolKit until a later version of AP will let me delete it without losing my history on our Vendors we still deal with.

Yes - that's the best work around for now. We know we need to add this functionality into Payables.
