Hi Leo

I am not familiar with DBASE. Also, it is not clear how/what was meant by you saying you appended three additional fields to the original item file? Append means to ADD to - however, you also indicate that you copied the field data using the replace command to the exact character fields' item and description. Do you just mean that you edited or CHANGED certain field contents - or do you actually mean that you added 3 fields?

At any rate, there are strict rules for importing items into Invoices. These rules are more for importing items from other source applications that may not have the same structure as IN items, however if you are exporting items from Adagio then back in to Adagio, the structure should already be in place unless you have modified the field structure in some way - intentionally or not (which is what I am wondering).

The fact that you were able to actually import the items back in makes me think that you did not actually append any fields, but just changed or edited the information contained in already existing fields. In this case, the text and info should be accessible after the import.

I tested by exporting one item out to Excel in DBASE format. I changed the Description only, saved the file, then imported it back in to Invoices using the Overwrite records option. It imported fine. When I went into the item, it showed me my new description and I was able to edit all the editable fields for that item, including the Description, Text lines and Options tab information. I was also successful in repeating this using all the sample data items at once.

I do not know what happened in your case. Perhaps you should check the file in DBASE and ensure that there are no trailing blank fields and that no expected fields are omitted. Invoices expects to see all the fields listed on pages 8-13 ~ 8-14 when you import items. If just one field is missing or is not the correct Type you will encounter problems.

Also, ensure you are working with reliable data. Do a Data Integrity Check. If errors are found, do the rebuild and repeat the DIC until there are no errors.
