A client points out to me the following scenario using the latest version of OE:

They have standing orders with discount amounts in the total screen. The discount percentage is zero, but not the discount amount.

When they turn a standing order into an active order, and change the customer to a different customer, the discount amount reverts to zero.

Obviously, this is not the desired result.

Any thoughts?

Steve

Hi Steve,

What happens if they don't change the customer?

The discount amount remains.

Seems to me that this is the behaviour you would want - the standing order is set up for a customer and the customer is given a discount. A different customer is not necessarily entitled to the discount.

Hi Andrew

I can't believe you are making me expend more effort on this, but the discount field is not tied to the customer. It is not tied to the items either; it is tied directly to the order. If it were tied to the customer, it would be a field in the customer master table, such as the terms code. That is so obvious it hardly has to be mentioned.

It is a field in Receivables V9.0A.

Anyone else feel like weighing in on how they think this should behave? Changing a customer is "new" behaviour.

In my experience, SOs have been mostly Customer specific. As is usually the case having all the options would be nice but if I had to choose one behaviour, I would want the discount tied to the customer.
