Hello:

If a user has a module open twice (once for each of 2 companies), they can't distinguish which is which when looking at the Windows status line at the bottom of the screen.

They see "Adagio Order Entry". I've tried changing the "Name" and even the "Comment" to something more descriptive (ie. "OE Company ABC") but that doesn't help. The field that shows appears on the icon as "Description".

Does anyone know a way to change what is displayed on the status line?

Thank you.

For a client with 3 companies we use different background colors - all modules for first company are pink; for the second they are yellow; for the third they are aqua. I think this is better than a name on the status line.

HI Bruce,

The desktop colour approach is the most direct way of distinguishing between companies. The status line in a module displays the company name from the company profile (or as much of it as will fit). If you hover the cursor over the company name, Adagio shows the directory and data extension on the leftmost panel of the status line.

Me - I'd do both - change the desktop colour and make sure that the company names are unique and distinctive in their early characters.

Thank you to Kate and Andrew for their responses.

We do all of those things. But what happens during the day is that other applications (ie. Excel, Word) are open on the desktop. Now the client wants to select the correct OE from the Windows taskbar (I think that's the correct term).

It would be nice, though not essential, to make them visually distinct. Maybe I'm looking for something that doesn't exist ...?

Hi Bruce,

If they are running under Windows Vista, have them click the scroll wheel on their mouse and select the right task from the "Instant Viewer" display. Or, if they use Alt-tab to click between tasks, then they can see the company name the alt-tab panel, under the program icon.

If they "hover" the mouse over the task bar item, Windows will display the complete task bar title (which includes the company name) in a pop-up after a short pause.

Hi Andrew:

They will have to learn to hover or get familiar with Alt-Tab!

Thank you for your suggestions.
