We have the Dakota Toolkit.
In GL you can:
Account -> Change to a new account name
Account -> Combine into another existing account
Account -> Copy to a new account name
You can do the same thing with AR Customers, IC Items and AP Vendors.
It's a great tool to help businesses reorganize their system. We've used it mainly to "combine into" and "change to" Inventory items so far. It gives us the results we want without losing any info including costing, quantities, locations and transaction history.
We plan to reorganize our Vendors and Customers as well when time permits.
