I cannot open my GL from my secondary computer - the error message reads UNABLE TO LOAD ADS DLL OK
As soon as I enter OK, I am taken back out of the GL. I installed the Adagio Payables 8.1A Service Pack prior to closing last night, and now am receiving this message this morning upon trying to open GL. My A/P and A/R are opening fine. What do I do?

Hello Villa,

It sounds like the the shortcut on the secondary computer is not pointing to the right drive letter. Can you run \softrak\chksys.exe and see if it reports any problems with the install?

It appears as if you are correct. I have copied and pasted the report below. I am not very computer savvy so I am not sure Which drive the secondary computer should be pointing to?

========== Multi-User Common Directory Status ==========

The following Multi-User Common directories ("EZTASKS") were found:
[Note: the common names are listed on the left; the crucial unique names are in parentheses]
f:\asp (\\office2\c\asp)
c:\asp (c:\asp)
WARNING: Generally only 1 such directory should exist, but (2) unique names were found!!
This may cause multi-user data corruption problems if programs use different
directories while concurrently accessing common data!!
Please check with your system administrator to ensure proper configuration.

Hi Villa,

Is the second machine a Windows 98 machine? You will not be able to run Adagio on it after installing the service pack. Performance improvements in Adagio require us to make calls to Windows that do not exist in Windows 98.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Yes, the second machine has Windows 98. We do not have any intention of replacing the operating system on this machine any time soon, so how do I get this second computer up and working, as it was prior to the service pack installation?

Hello Villa,

Sorry for the unexpected change, but we don't test on Windows 98.

Improvements to the performance of Adagio have us making calls to Windows that don't exist in Windows 98. Every upgrade and service pack from this point onward will have this problem for you. Perhaps it's time to invest in a new computer? You just need a system unit (not a new screen, keyboard or mouse) and should be able to get one for $400 or so.

Thanks for your help. We have decided to upgrade to a new computer, as we don't need to have ongoing problems

(Glad we could help with the budget justification! )
