Our live data is stored in a folder called I:\Data on our server. There's a back up folder located on I:\Data\DataBack where we store back ups from time to time. Is there a way to warn users when they are opening a data set other than I\Data? What happens is when I open one of the back up data sets to look at it, it redirects everyone else that opens Adagio after me to the same back up data set instead of I:\Data. Without even knowing it, they open and use the back up data set entering invoices and other transactions. This is a serious mistake since the amounts will never appear on the customers account as owing, nor will the inventory come off the system.
I think I retraced where these errors were made, but how do I prevent others from accidently using the wrong data set in the future? For now, I moved all the back up data sets to my local C: drive. When I open a back up data set now and then others open Adagio after me, it still redirects to the back up data set instead of I:\Data, however, they get an error because they can't see my local C:. This is the only solution I can think of. Never back up your data on the shared drive!!
Any other ideas?
